Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary Opens the Search for the Dean of the Seminary

At its Fall meeting of 2016, the Board of Trustees of Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary has resolved to open the search for the vacant position of the Dean of the Seminary, and formed a Search Committee for this purpose, under the chairmanship of the Very Rev. Archimandrite Luke (Murianka), Rector of the Seminary.  Please read the announcement below.

Dean of the Seminary

Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary invites applications for the position of the Dean of the Seminary, for a four-year term to begin on September 1, 2017. Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary is a college-level professional school of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR), committed to continuation of the theological and spiritual legacy of the Russian Orthodox Church and to the training of future pastors and lay leaders for the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.

The Dean of the Seminary serves as the chief operations officer reporting directly to the Rector of the Seminary. He directs the everyday work of the Seminary’s offices and officers, and oversees the process of academic study at the Seminary in collaboration with the Rector, the Board of Trustees, and Faculty. The Dean also carries out part-time teaching obligations (normally amounting to 1-2 courses a semester), as a member of the Seminary Faculty. It is also expected that in addition to the academic or administrative duties, the Dean shall be able to travel to represent the Seminary in the U.S. and abroad, and to be actively involved in fundraising projects.

Successful applicants should be fully supportive of the mission of the Seminary and be deeply acquainted with theological tradition of the Russian Orthodox Church. Given the position of the Seminary as an ecclesiastical institution, the preference will be given to members of the Orthodox clergy with a satisfactory administrative experience and a terminal graduate degree in theology or a cognate discipline from an accredited institution.   Fluency in spoken and/or written Russian is not a requirement but would be an additional qualification which could influence the candidate’s standing.

All applications should be directed to: The Very Reverend Archimandrite Luke, Rector, Chair of the Search Committee, P.O. Box 36, Jordanville, NY 13361 or by email careers@hts.edu. Please submit your CV, cover letter, statement of intent, graduate school transcripts, evidence of administrative and teaching experience, and three reference letters.

The review of the applications will begin as they are received and will continue until the position is filled. Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary has been accredited by the Commissioner of Education and the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York since 1948 with the Absolute Charter granted in 1962.
