HTOS Deputy Dean of Students Delivers Lectures

During the fall semester, HTOS Deputy Dean of Students Hierodeacon Theodore (Stanway) (HTOS '17, '21) travelled to several different locations to deliver lectures.

On the weekend of October 16-17, Fr. Theodore was hosted by Saint John the Wonderworker of America Mission (ROCOR) in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and the Orthodox Christian Fellowship at Bucknell University. On Sunday morning, Fr. Theodore preached the homily at Divine Liturgy, participated in the mission's weekly Bible study and, in the evening, delivered his lecture entitled "Truth Before Peace: The Message of Father George Calciu" on the grounds of Bucknell University, in which he explained the contents of Fr. George's "Seven Homilies to the Youth" and their application in contemporary society.

The following month, on the weekend of November 13-14, Fr. Theodore was hosted by Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, a Western Rite parish of the Antiochian Orthodox Church, in Lynchburg, Virginia and the Orthodox Christian Fellowship of Liberty University. On Saturday evening, he delivered the same lecture at the parish and, the following morning, preached the homily at Divine Liturgy and led an adult education class, focusing on the teachings of Holy Trinity Monastery's much-beloved former abbot, Archbishop Averky (Taushev) and his book, The Struggle for Virtue. The evening lecture was recorded and is available to watch here.
