His Grace, Bishop NICHOLAS of Manhattan (HTOS class '98) was elected on August 31/September 13 by the ROCOR Synod of Bishops to serve as the seventh First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. The First Hierarch also serves as the Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York (the EAD's ruling bishop).
