The feast of the Three Hierarchs, the patronal feast of the seminary, was celebrated on Sunday February 12, 2023 at Holy Trinity Monastery Cathedral in Jordanville, NY. With 2023 marking the 75th anniversary of the seminary, this feast day also began a year-long celebration that will include commencement 2023, as well as several feasts throughout the year, culminating in the main anniversary event from September 15-17, 2023.
His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad led the divine services. His Eminence was co-served by His Eminence, Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada, and His Grace, Bishop Luke of Syracuse.
During the reading of the hours, Reader Patrick Hinds (3rd year M.Div. student) was set aside as a Subdeacon for St Elizabeth the New Martyr Parish in Rocky Hill, NJ. by Metropolitan Nicholas. Subdeacon Patrick will be serving in the monastery for the time being, and is scheduled to graduate this year.
After the Cherubic Hymn, monastery Protodeacon Peter Markevich was ordained to the Holy Priesthood. Fr Peter is an alumnus of HTS class of 2013. Thereafter, he served as the seminary's lecturer in liturgics until 2019, whilst also employed by Holy Trinity Publications in the capacity of Sales and Marketing Manager. The latter has been his sole responsibility for the past three years and he is continuing in this capacity whilst also moving on to fulfill his new calling as rector of Holy Trinity Church in Mebane, NC.
Prior to the Lord’s Prayer, Subdeacon Ivan Golovin (4th year B.Th. student) was ordained to the diaconate by Bishop Luke. Fr Ivan will be serving in the monastery and is also scheduled to graduate this year.
We ask that your prayers be added to ours, that the Lord our God may bestow strength upon Priest Peter, Deacon Ivan, and Subdeacon Patrick, their wives and families, as they enter into this new level of service in Christ’s Holy Vineyard.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, there was a short moleben, followed by the meal in the monastery trapeza. Afterwards, everyone moved to the seminary hall for a bountiful “tea,” which was prepared by our seminarians, with the help and guidance of Igumen Cyprian and Hieromonk Theodore, Deputy Dean of Students.
